ACO Petition Campaign - Listed Buildings

BRANCH: Provincial Office

TYPE: Member Documents

DATE: April 3, 2024

AUTHOR: ACO

At this year's Heritage Day on February 21st, it was suggested that the Conservancy may want to send petitions to Queen's Park to let the government know that our three 'asks' make sense to many Ontarians who care about heritage. The government is obliged to respond to petitions presented to the Assembly.

Members of ACO's Government and Community Relations Committee have drafted a petition on extending the deadline for municipally listed heritage buildings, the most time-sensitive of the asks. It is drafted in the form required by the Assembly, for branches to use or to adapt for local circumstances. These petitions should be sent to MPPs before the end of May, so that they can be presented in the Assembly’s spring session.

On April 3rd, ACO hosted a webinar reviewing the process for making a petition to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. CLICK HERE to watch the webinar.
